Spread the love

As told by Paige Anders:

With one Pardino looked in on for the day it was time to see the other.  The problem was I might not be able to get into Anne’s club as by now Mathew might have, probably found out everything about Aunt Dawn and therefore knew I was her niece.  But I thought I knew someone that might be able to get me in anyway.

Cinnamon Jake, “You wanna go where?!”

Paige, “You heard me.”

Jake, “But I thought you said you never wanted to go to that place it was just ‘an extravagant house of ill repute.’”

Paige, “I changed my mind.”

Jake, “Just like a woman.”

Paige, “And I thought you said you could get us in – what was it, your silver tongue, you worked there, you know Anne school?”

Jake, “You really want to go?”

Paige, “Yes.”

Jake, “Well alright. Hot damn, am I gonna show you a night out on the town!”

Later, at the entrance to the club:

As we neared the entrance Jake and I cut past the line of lord and ladies and the elite of the capital.

Paige, “Jake, shouldn’t we wait in line?”

Jake, “No.  I told you I can get us in.”  Jake bravado’s his way up to the bouncers.  Bouncer, “Cinnamon!” and he and the bouncers embrace.  “Who’s the little girl?”

Jake, “Oh, this is my girl.”

Bouncer, “Really, she doesn’t look like any other girls we’ve seen you with before.”

Paige, “Other girls?”

Jake, a bit nervously, “She’s not just some girl, she’s a fine lady.”

Bouncer, “She looks it.  Miss, what are you doing with him?”

Paige, “Sometimes I ask myself the same question.”  The bouncer motions with his head for us to go in.  We walk down the stairs and this reception is repeated again.

Bouncer, “Looks like you finally got yourself a real classy lady there, Cinnamon.  Better not let Anne see.”

Paige, a bit drawn out, “Why, Cinnamon?”

Jake, “Nothin’, he’s just playin’.”

Paige, “Is he?”

Paige remarks on the club and the music.  Anne’s set hasn’t started yet.  The manager sees Jake and nods, shakes hands, “I’ll go tell the boss you’re here,” and seats Jake and Anne at a side table.

Anne appears from the side. She is wearing a sparkling blue evening gown, shoulderless, cut low; diamond and platinum necklace; white gloves up to her elbows.  Hair up in bun.  Struts over to Jake and Paige.

“Oh, hey, Cinnamon!” and Anne saunters over with a smile and gives Jake a kiss on the cheek and a big hug.

Paige, “So you do know each other.”

Anne, “Oh, yeah.  Cinnamon and I go way back.”

Jake, “Yeah.  We were at the conservatory at the same time.”

Anne, “Oh, yeah.  We made a lot of great music together didn’t we, Cinnamon?”

Jake, “Uh, yeah.”

Paige, “Did you?”

Anne, “Oh, sure.  We played together all night long sometimes.”

Paige, looking at Jake, “I bet you did.”

Anne, “I’m so glad you could make it,” and she saunters back onto the stage. “Good evening ladies and gentleman.  I’ve got an old friend in the club tonight and this first one’s for him,” and she blows Cinnamon a kiss and begins to sing some mushy, sexish love song.  Paige is not happy, Cinnamon seems enthralled. Paige is not happy in part because Cinnamon, and seemingly every male in the place, is enthralled.  Paige to herself, ‘How is she doing that?  Wish I could do that.’

Paige, after the meeting with Jake and Anne.  A bit jealous.  She is in her home looking in the full-length mirror trying to make fun of and also trying to act like Anne.  Paige pushes up her small bosoms, makes faces and poses in the mirror, and tries to strut like Anne and falls over in the process.  This is when Dawn is over for tea.  Dawn hears the sound of Paige landing hard on the floor and calls out, “What are you doing in there?” Anne, from the floor, “Nothing.”
